This 5 stage reverse osmosis system is our best-selling model for budget minded consumers who are unwilling to compromise about getting the finest demineralized water possible, especially on chloraminated city water.

Details:

This 5-stage reverse osmosis unit offers high-quality performance in a package designed especially for budget-minded consumers. Its first stage is a sediment filter that reduces dirt, sand, and rust particles down to 5 microns in size. The second stage is a catalytic activated carbon prefilter that provides reduction of chloramines and suppresses bacterial build-up in the system. This prefilter also reduces VOC's and chemicals that impart tastes and odors. The third stage is a premium carbon block cartridge. The fourth stage is a premium 50 gpd thin-film composite membrane capable of producing ultra-high purity water. A special coconut shell carbon postfilter improves taste.

NOTE: This system can remove chloramine. Most RO systems can not effectively remove chloramine. Chloramine is not the same as chlorine. It is a mixture of chlorine and ammonia that is very difficult to remove from water. It will pass right through a normal reverse-osmosis system or a distiller, and become concentrated in the product water. In susceptible individuals, chloramine causes gastric irritation. Many municipalities now use chloramine instead of chlorine as a disinfectant because it has been discovered that chlorine can combine with dissolved organic matter in water and create cancer-causing by products. Many cities with surface water supplies high in dissoved organic matter (caused by decaying plants, algae, leaves, etc.) cannot comply with new EPA regulations limiting these by-products so it is cheaper to use chloramine to disinfect the water than remove the dissolved organic matter.

This package will fit most standard 5-stage reverse osmosis systems. This replacement pack is a set of four cartridges for the LIVINGWATERS LWSRO Standard RO Water Treatment Systems. Instead of the cheap spun poly sediment filter that is typical for an RO system, this package replaces it with a cartridge that adds protection from chloramine, hard-to-remove chemicals like MTBE, perchlorate, pharmaceutical and personal care product residues, and extended protection against heavy metals like hexavalent chromium.
